Holidays and Absences
Sickness Absence
If your child is ill or has a medical appointment and is unable to attend school or will be in late, please inform us by telephone. There is an option on the telephone system to leave a message for this. If no telephone message is received, our Learning Mentor will contact you to ask for an explanation for the absence.
Please see the section on Medical Information under the Parent Information heading on this website for a document giving advice on when your child should stay away from school.
Holiday Absence
In line with legislation from the government, holidays and leave of absence will only be authorised in exceptional circumstances. School holiday dates can be found on the Sheffield City Council website. Please see https://www.sheffield.gov.uk/home/schools-childcare/school-information-term-dates
Holidays should not be booked until they have been authorised, and they will only be authorised if there are genuinely exceptional circumstances. Please see our updated Attendance Policy below.
If your child will be having a holiday or leave of absence please complete a leave of absence form. This can be obtained from the school office or downloaded from below. The form should be submitted to school at least 2 weeks prior to the leave of absence.
Taking unauthorised term time holiday may result in you being liable for a Penalty Notice. The penalty is a £60 fine per parent if paid within 28 days of receipt of the notice rising to £100 if paid after 28 days but within 42 days. If the penalty is not paid in full within the 42-day period, Sheffield City Council may prosecute.
